Kim Kimble knows whats she talking about because where she come from is where she could have stayed. She was basically bred for this industry. She is a third-generation hair stylist, grew up in her mom’s salon in Los Angeles, California, USA., and trained at both Vidal Sassoon Academy and Dudley Cosmetology University in North Carolina. She stated in one interview that she originally wanted to be a fashion designer, but was dissuaded after going to the Bronner Brothers hair show. After graduating she worked with her mom, who encourage her to join a Local 706, the union that represents hair stylists for film and TV shows.
By 1995, Kimble opened her first salon, “Phaze II.” Then she was given a chance by Robert Townsend, who hired her as key hair stylist on the movie “BAPS” starring Halle Berry. That gig lead to working with many shows and movies that we watched in the 1990′s and 2000′s. In 2000, she opened her second salon, Kimble Hair Studio in West Hollywood, California and launched “Kimble Hair Care Systems” hair care line. She went on to build a clientele that includes, Brandy, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Jada Pinkett-Smith , Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Williams, Venus and Serena Williams, Kerry Washington, Sanaa Lathan, Garcelle Beauvais, Eve, and Keri Hilson. Her editorial work can be found in Vanity Fair, Allure, InStyle, Essence, Glamour, Elle and Vogue. She had also worked for ad campaigns such as Pepsi, Neutrogena, Nike, CoverGirl, McDonald’s and L’Oreal. In 2013, she started working “Kimble Creations” hair tools, and is now in WE tv’s “LA Hair” which shows her salons day-to-day activities.
